The 8th of 11 spoiled Dark Ascension cards from an anonymous source:
Headless Skaab versus Makeshift Mauler -- FIGHT!
Makeshift Mauler enters the fight strong with a 1-2 punch... but Headless Skaab comes back strong and beats the mauler to a bloody pulp...!
The Headless Skaab sacrifices 1 power for 1 toughness and it enters the battlefield tapped, but it enters the battlefield 1 turn earlier. Especially in a limited format where 3 toughness is the the litmus test for 'good' versus 'maybe,' the difference between 3 power and 4 power is not nearly as significant than the difference between 2 power and 3 power, for example. So maybe the difference in value between the two is that great, but I do think the Headless Skaab is a better card.
Headless Skaab wants to be friends will all of the Makeshift Mauler's good and trust friends. These friends include cards like Deranged Assistant, Selhoff Occultist, and Civilized Scholar and spells like Dream Twist and Forbidden Alchemy.
It's the same old self-mill deck with a cheaper version of a slightly older creature.
(Both Makeshift Mauler and Headless Skaab are still worse than Stitched Drake.)
