Gutter Grime Combo

I don't usually make combo decks that use endless loops as a crutch to victory, but Gutter Grime was too fun to resist. And besides, the deck can win without the endless combo. It's the army of ooze tokens which really win the game for you and there are many ways to get more ooze tokens into play.

How does the deck work?

You might be able to win occasionally with a beefy Primeval Titan with double strike and lifelink, but the deck's main win condition is through an overwhelming amount of ooze tokens spawned from Gutter Grime. The card that really makes the deck sing is another rare from Innistrad: Heartless Summoning. This deck uses the "-1/-1 feature" of Heartless Summoning as the main sac outlet for all of your creatures. With two Myr Retrievers and a Heartless Summoning in play, you can endlessly cast and retrieve Myr Retrievers, adding more and more slime counters to Gutter Grime and simultaneously spawning ooze tokens onto the battlefield. With two Heartless Summonings in play, Academy Rector can search your library for any enchantment to put into play for a single white mana. And if you really want to beat your opponent into the ground, you can cast Life (from Life/Death), turning all your lands into 1/1 creatures who immediately die, spawning that many ooze creature tokens, ready to beat face. And if you don't have a Life/Death in hand, you can always activate a Blinkmoth Nexus and create an emergency, giant ooze token.

Lastly, Entomb is one of the key cards of the deck. If you don't have Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth in play, Riftstone Portal may be necessary to turn all your lands into mana producing lands. Although... if you have a Life/Death in hand, you can always search for a Primeval Titan and use the titan to search for Urborg and another utility land. And of course, if you're having trouble drawing a pair of Myr Retrievers, Entomb can solve that in a pinch.

How does this deck differ from similar decks out there?

As I type this, Innistrad is the latest set and I really haven't seen too many Gutter Grime decks posted anywhere. And I definitely haven't seen any decks that combine both Gutter Grime and Heartless Summoning into one crazy mess.

What is your favorite thing about the deck?

The Gutter Grime and Heartless Summoning Combo is just too perfect. You wouldn't think that a token deck would want to run Heartless Summoning, but because the oozes just keep getting bigger and bigger, in this deck it works.
